SETTING PERSONAL GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR

Here we go again, making those same old promises we made last year and the year before that knowing most of them will be broken well before we hit Spring.  Whether you set your goals privately to yourself or proclaim them to the world, the odds are stacked again you when it comes to seeing them all  come to fruition.

The commitment to making positive change in our life is at its strongest at the start of a new year but it becomes considerably weaker after two or three months and is almost non-existent by the time Summer rolls around.  Why is that?  How can we stay motivated and on-track until we achieve the goal we set at the beginning of the year? And by-the-way, don't fall into the trap of blaming it on lack of will power.  Ask yourself why do you lack will power?  We need to dig a little deeper to get to the real root of the problem - don't simply tag yourself as being lazy, lacking will power or lacking enthusiasm.  Instead, look for ways to breakthrough the barriers that force you to quit on your goals with virtually no hesitation.

Watch the slideshow below (you will most likely identify with at least one of the resolutions you set at the start of the year).  More importantly, look for the one slide that actually offers a great suggestion that you can use to stay committed to your New Year's resolution or to any goals you set throughout the year for that matter.  Take a minute to watch all 13 slides.

What Was Your New Year's Resolution?

Here's the simple truth on HOW TO STAY COMMITTED to achieving your New Year's resolution & your life goals ...

When written down with a date, your resolution, desire, aspiration, dream (or whatever term you give it) becomes a GOAL.  A goal broken down into small steps becomes a PLAN.  A plan backed by ACTION becomes REALITY.  When you accomplish your resolution, desire, aspiration or dream  it is truly a euphoric feeling and a confidence booster that can often catapult you to even bigger dreams & aspirations.

Make realistic resolutions (goals); write a plan; take action and find ways to maintain your motivation so you stay committed. "Visualization" is a great way to stay motivated.  You do that by picturing the end result that your goal will bring you - do it on a daily basis.  Some people do it by posting & viewing images that relate to their desired goal, some do it through daily affirmations, some do it by reading their Goal Card every day or by watching, listening or reading something inspirational every day.  It's all about doing what works best for you.  Bottom line, everything starts with feeding your subconscious mind with the right messages..

Sir Richard Branson's New Year's Resolution for 2020 is...

"My New Year’s Resolution this year is to put my health first. You only get one body so it’s important to
look after it.  I’m going to make sure I’m getting enough rest, staying fit and healthy and eating well."

~ Sir Richard Branson Founded the Virgin Group in the 1970s

SETTING BUSINESS GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR

Business goals are essential both at the start of the year as well as throughout the year.  Some businesses choose to use the fiscal year when planning while others choose to use the calendar year.  Whichever you choose, the desired outcome should be the same.

Planning, strategizing, re-evaluating and sometimes regrouping is a MUST when it comes to the success, adaptability and longevity of your business.

Here are some fundamentals when putting together your Action Plan for the new year:

1.  Delegate when appropriate but make sure you know how do the task yourself before delegating
2. Promote Your business or name regularly (it is important to consistently be nurturing & growing your brand)
3. Make PLANNING a daily task (at the very least a weekly task)
4. Learn Something NEW every day (you need to be improving & growing every day)
5.  Join at least TWO new Masterminds or Networking Groups or Business Organizations that can help you or you them throughout the year.
6. Give back to your Community or Charity (the law of reciprocity)
7. Carve out time for yourself and family - preferably each day but at least once a week
8. Set REALISTIC GOALS and break them down into bite-size pieces (daily tasks or actions)
